Stephen and Nancy had 12 children: Wheeler (1849- ), Louisa (1853- ), Emeline Street Ledford (#46402436), Doak (1857-1910), Rhoda Street Street Frasier (1858- ), Nathaniel (1862- ), Thomas Clingman (#30641099), Joseph (#55177485), Hattie Street Hill (1869- ), Lottie Street Barrett (1871-1948), Landon (#75291168), Sarah Street Roberts (1875-1956).

Stephen was Sheriff of Mitchell County from Jul 11, 1865 to 1870 when he became the Mitchell County Auditor, a stonecutter; the pastor of Spring Creek Baptist Church (which later became known as Middle District Free Will Baptist Church), a Sergent in the TN Union Army and a Captain in the 3rd NC MTD INF, in the Civil war. There is a Stephen Street listed in the 13th Reg TN Calvary on the Carter County TN Civil War Roster. Stephen died of a sudden heart attack while at work on his chimney or removing an old tree stump. [info from Hayden Street]

Info from aghughes3 (Ancestry.com) - Old Street Cemetery (abandoned) is located just west of State Highway 226, adjacent to the confluence of Big Rock and Beech Creeks across the covered bridge inside the Beech Creek development near Buladean, North Carolina.

Submitted by Hayden L Street-from 'The Heritage of the Toe River Valley, Vol X by Lloyd Bailey -Steven is the only member of household known to be buried in the Old Street Cemetery, At the head of his grave is a large hand carved stone which, as a stone carver, he is believed to have carved himself, except for the date of his death. Looking more like a foot stone is his United States Government provided military stone with his rank, name, and unit carved on it. (However, I have found other Street Memorials as being buried in the Street Cemetery in Buladean, Mitchell, NC - which may be another Street cemetery.)
