He was survived by his wife of 64 years, Ruth Holliday Mires; son, Jeff Mires (Brenda); daughters, Dotsy Davis (Olin) and Barbara Hall (Gary); grandchildren, Todd Davis (Lindsey, Caroline Britton (Jonathan), Erin Hendricks (Bucky), Michael McGuire and Cody Davis; step-grandchildren, Charles Hall, Sarah Hall and Samantha Day (Alan); seven great-grandchildren; and an extended family of relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Mires. His funeral was held on June 2, 2013, at Rosemary Baptist Church in Roanoke Rapids, NC, with The Rev. Dr. Layne Wallace officiating.
