Dies At 65
Norman G. Oakes, 65, of 4 Russell St., died unexpectedly Monday at Lockport Memorial Hospital.
Born February 7, 1907 at Devils Lake, North Dakota, he was the son of Necomb G. and Denice (Hart) Oakes.
Mr. Oakes lived in Lockport for 45 years and retired this year from the Niagara Orleans Glass Co where he was a glazier.
He was a member of Galzier and Glassmakers Local 660.
Besides his widow, Jessie (Morey) Oakes, he is survived by two sons, Roy and Harold Oakes, a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Viola) Kerr all of Lockport, a brother, Clarence D. Oakes of Troy, Mich., three sisters, Mrs. Alice M. Wise of Needham, Mass., Mrs. Gladys Moffert of Auburn Heights, Mich., Mrs. Bessie Schwind of Troy, Mich, and seven grandchildren.
Friends may call tonite from 7 to 9 and tomorrow from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., where funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m.
Burial will be in Hartland Central Cemetery. Memorials to the Heart Fund would be appreciated by the family.
