NOTE: No mention of death in Greene County Herald for this time frame. It is considered and presumed that he is buried beside his wife and that this is the Cooley Cemetery referred to for him in this reference, and not the newer Cooley Cemetery located nearby.

EDWARD B. BOX DIED
DIED, At his home at Vernal, Miss., at 1 O'Clock A. M., Tuesday, February 22, 1910, Mr. Edward B. Box, whose health has been gradually declining for over a year. He was of a ripe old age, being up in the 80s. Jedge Box, as he was known far and wide [on] account of serving as the local magistrate in his bailiewick for nearly quarter of a century, was one of the patriarchs in Greene Co., having founding a large family, from someone of which descendant a suitable obituary will probably reach this paper. He was one of the pioneer subscribers to the Herald. Editor, Greene County Herald, 25 Feb 1910.

E. B. BOX
E. B. Box, died at his home near Vernal, Miss., on Feb 22, 1910. He was a son of Charles Box, who was at one time Clerk of the Court of Greene County, and Justice of the Peace at the time of his death. Mr. Box was born on April 17, 1828, within one-half mile of where he died. He was a citizen of this County, all his life. He was married to Miss Muhula[sic] Cooley about 1852. He united with the Presbyterian in 1870 or '71, in Vernal, which was a branch of the Salem Church at that time, and went into the organization of the Vernal Church, Saturday Feb 28, 1880, of which he was a member at the time of his death.
He was Deputy Clerk under his father, and has served as Justice of the Peace almost continually since the war. He has been in declining health for five or six years. (Rev.) A. G. FERGUSON , Greene County [MS] Herald, 25 Mar 1910.
