Johnny also known by close friends and family as "Jimmy or Uncle Jimmy" a title he cherished. Jimmy would help any and all who asked often sacrificing much to do so, He loved life and God, and he was a life-long member of the First Baptist Church of New London. He was predeceased by his friend and partner, Johnny Wilson of Willimantic, Brother Michael W. Mayo, Cousin William Fordham, and a sister Madelyn A. Mayo
Johnny enjoyed travel and music but most of all he loved his mother, father and family. He is survived by three sisters Alice Williams and Linda Mayo, Audrey Abdu and five brothers: Ralph Mayo, Glen Mayo, Alfred P. Mayo, Sr., Anthony R. Mayo, and Melvin L. Mayo. He is also survived a host of nieces and nephews. Interment will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery.
