WALTERS Funeral for Phillip Vowell, 76, Walters, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home Chapel, Walters.

Burial will follow at Flower Mound Cemetery southeast of Lawton.

Phillip Gerald Vowell was born Feb. 23, 1937, in Lawton, to James Lewis and Annie Elvarah Sims Vowell, and passed away Wednesday, July 17, 2013, in his home at Walters.

Phillip attended school at Lawton High. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1956-1960. He graduated in 1964 from Oklahoma State University School of Technical Training at Okmulgee as a refrigeration and air conditioning mechanic. Phillip retired from civil service at Fort Sill in 1992 after 30 years. He married Jean Kelley Sept. 1, 1991. Phillip enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and travelling all over the United States in their RV with his wife, Jean. He was an active member of several square dance clubs.

Phillip was preceded in death by his father, James Vowell, stepfather, Leo Anderson; mother, Annie Vowell Anderson; and brothers: Bennie and J.H. Vowell.

Phillip is survived by his wife, Jean, of the home; a daughter, Jodie and husband Troy Franzen, of Cache; stepchildren: Desta and husband David Parks, of Ponca City; Chris Kelley, of Walters; Jamon and wife Pam Kelley, of Walters; and Kalun and wife Tiffini Kelley, of Lookeba; his siblings: Doris Ann Shook, of Oregon; Eva Jean Bigbee and Phil Herring, of Wichita, Kan.; and Donald Vowell and wife Eileen, of Garwood, Texas; a sister-in-law, Rosemary Vowell, of Oklahoma City; several grandchildren: Kierce Franzen, Zachary and Suzanna Parks, Ciara and Colt Kelley, Jaxon Kelley, Kailey and Kinzie Kelley, Kailey Williams, Brennan and Dilan Lyda; a great-granddaughter, Kinley; other relatives and many friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation for Alzheimer or Multiple Sclerosis research at: OMRF, 825 NE 13th, Oklahoma City 73104, or www.omrf.org.
