Member of the North Carolina General Assembly for many years. Bequeathed his estate to the poor of Edgecombe County. Remains moved to Tarboro Town Common in 1904.∼Louis D. Wilson was a stateman and soldier who died in Mexico while serving his country in the Mexican War. He was first interred in this graveyard. A few years later a new county was formed from Edgecombe County and the new county was named in honor of Louis Wilson -- Wilson County. His remains were removed and re-interred with ceremony, on the Town Commons, Tarboro, County Seat of Edgecombe.
