SUZANNE MATHILDA THORSTENSEN GARDNER HUDSON
-Suzanne; Beloved, Beautiful Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Wife and Companion passed away peacefully in her sleep, at 5:30 am Saturday, April 13, 2013 in Hayden, Idaho.
-Suzanne was born December 9, 1933 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Dr. Arthur H. and Bernice (Tucheck) Thorstensen (deceased), who were also blessed with two other children, Joan and Arthur.
-She grew up in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, graduating from Wauwatosa High School. She attended the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee, and the University of Colorado where she graduated and was a member of AOPi Sorority. Sue was also a member of the Lutheran Church.
-She married William Wilson Gardner September 4, 1954. They started a family of four sons: William A., Steven M., Peter J., and Thomas S. Gardner.
-Her husband, Bill, died April 7th, 1978.
-She married Colonel John E. Hudson, from Lake Wales, Florida, on February 18th, 1980. She has two-step sons: The Rev. Robert W. Hudson and Thomas M. Hudson, two step daughters: Mary Lu Hudson and Patricia J. Forbes
-Suzanne and John lived in Longmont, Colorado, New Port Richey, Florida, and Errol Estates Country Club, Apopka, Florida. They also lived at Kissing Camels Country Club, Colorado Springs, Colorado, until they moved to Coeur d' Alene, Idaho. They had thirty-three beautiful years of marriage together.
-Suzanne took up golf in 1980 and became a very talented golfer. She loved to play golf and had a 13 handicap along with 3 holes-in-one and many golf trophies. Besides golf, she loved traveling. She and John visited all the 50 states, including Mexico, Canada, and many trips to Europe. Her favorite trip was to London on the Concorde, with the return trip back to the states on the QE-2. She also enjoyed traveling through Austria, Germany and Italy.
-Suzanne is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Joan, her first husband, Bill, and two of her sons, William and Peter Gardner, Mother-in-law Wanda Wilson Gardner .
-She is survived by her loving husband of 33 years, John, of Hayden, Idaho (who really misses her).
-She is also survived by her sons: Steven Gardner, (Valerie) of Lyons and their sons, Jeremiah and Matthew (Bobbie) and two great grandsons, David and Jaden.
-Her son: Thomas Gardner, (Jo Lynne) and daughter Kaitlynn of Loveland, Colorado. Her brother, Rev. Arthur H. Thorstensen, (Rev. Laurel Thorstensen), of Colorado Springs Colorado. Their two daughters: Maren Thorstensen, of Minnesota and Joanna Cuppett, (Paul, children: Haley, Brexton, and Ryder) of Colorado. Her sister, Joan's two sons: Paul Wilkinson of California and Timothy Wilkinson of Nevada. Step Sons: The Rev. Robert W. (Barbara L.) and their sons: Andrew W. Hudson and Major David Hudson, (Lt. Cmdr Laura) with five children: Hannah R, Keira M, Anabelle G, Molly E, and John D. (Jack) Hudson, all of Fayetteville, N.C. Thomas Hudson (Becky) of Montana. Step Daughters: Mary Lu (Vince) Kozak. Tricia Forbes and her two children, Courtney Pellow and Ryan of Idaho. Along with two great granddaughters Ragen and Bella Pellow. She is also survived by Bill Gardner's sisters: Jane Iverson of Minnesota and Dianne (Hayden) Nelson, of Washington. Bill Gardner's brother: David Gardner (Leslie) of Arizona. John's brothers: R. Eugene (Janice) Hudson of Casper, Wyoming and Doctor Thomas L. (Courtney) Hudson of Amarillo, Texas.
-Memorial services will be held 11:00 am on Saturday June 1, 2013 at First Congregational, United Church of Christ (9th and Francis), Longmont, Colorado. At her request in lieu of flowers any memorial remembrances can be made to: Hospice of North Idaho, 9493 N. Government Way, Hayden, Idaho 83835.
