Obituary from the Edwardsville Intelligencer, Edwardsville, Madison County, Illinois, Wednesday, December 1, 1920, page 1:
Mrs. Amanda S. Berger died yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the home of her son, Albert Berger, in Venice. Relatives said this morning that tentative plans are to have the funeral here on Friday. Unless a change is made in the arrangements there will be a funeral service in Venice Friday shortly after noon, and the funeral party will leave there at 1:45 on the Suburban line and come direct to Woodlawn cemetery, where there will be a brief service before the interment.
Mrs. Berger was 73 years old. She was born February 15, 1847. On August 20, 1863, she was married to Joseph Berger. Surviving her are three sons, Joseph and Albert, of Venice, and Edward, who is in California. There are seven grandchildren.
There are a large number of other relatives here. Mrs. Berger made her home here until last month, when her illness caused her removal to her son's home for closer attention.
