ELSIE EMMA (PRAZAK) ETLINGER was born September 21, 1911 to Marie and Rudolph Prazak in Caldwell, Texas. She died Saturday, August 17, 2002 at the Bellville General Hospital. The past nine months, she lived at Rose Hill in Bellville. Elsie attended Caldwell Public School and received her teaching certificate from Southwest Texas State University and summer schools at Texas A & M University. In her early career, she taught school in a small town outside of Bryan. She married Pete Etlinger on September 13, 1934 in Moulton, Texas. Elsie together with her husband started the Pete E. Etlinger Funeral Chapel in Bellville and Sealy, Texas. Elsie was in the generation that built Texas. She was a remarkable woman; ran a business, was an artist, a decorator, raised a handicapped son, and adopted a daughter. Her husband Pete and son, Peter Lane, died before her and she is survived by her daughter Karen Etlinger of Austin, brother and sister-in-law, Stanley and Elizabeth Prazak of Bryan, and a number of nieces and nephews. Services will be as follows: Visitation Tuesday, August 20, 2002 at 5:30 P.M. from Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 936 South Front St., in Bellville followed by the parish rosary at 6:30 P.M.; celebration of the funeral mass and rite of committal, Wednesday, August 21, 2002 at 11:00 A.M. from Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Bellville General Hospital Ladies Auxilliary, P. O. Box 977, Bellville, Texas 77418 or Sts.
