Joseph's wife Sara lost a brother in the Civil War. I have several letters that he wrote home that I cherish. In one he asks Sara where Joseph is and if he had joined up. He (the brother) died at Gaines Mills in Virginia. He was 17. Joseph moved to Texas Between 1850 and 1860 living in the Deen Hotel in Henderson County. After the war was over, on July 25, 1865, he married Sara Ascenith Owen at Athens, Henderson Co. Texas.
