No not a Buffalo Bills...

American Revolution veteran of the Continental Army. Quartermaster, Sergeant with the Connecticut Militia. A Patriot!

Elijah married Miss Lydia Franklin and had at least eight children.
His wife, Mrs. Lydia Franklin Bills is buried at Fleming,Cayuga County, New York.
Six are Daniel (married a Whipple girl and died before 1852 in Tompkins County), Lydia Whipple (who was born in 1784 and married Ithamar Whipple), Elijah Junior(b. ca. 1785), Polly Cheney, Hannah Hamilton and Edmund C. Bills

Elijah moved to the town of Perry, Genesse Co., NY which became Wyoming Co in 1841.He is buried there as is his son Edmund (b. ca. 1804 and had $18,000 real estate in 1850 census).Elijah Jr's occupation was listed as "hotel" in 1850 census in the town of Gainesville, Wyoming Co., NY.

Hi senior rank was LT (that's what he got his bounty land for- in a special disposition from the state of NY since he was actually a Nova Scotia refugee). But he left the service and then came back- His last rank was quartermaster sergeant
His service record has him marked as a privateer (since he did that for many months . He did a lot of boat and barges work in the last years of the war.- even as an acting Captain (didn't get the rank).
His wife Most likely he married where he was stationed in 1778-1779
His daughter - Florence- is actually Florina (per her gravestone and her daughter Dorcas' death record- town of Bloomfield, Fillmore County, MN). His service record- is Bill (not Bills)- though apparently he may have changed it to Bills very late in life.
