Was at Battle of Lookout Mountains, was taken prisoner.Wyatt W. Jennings was born March 8, 1836 in Edgefield District, South Carolina. He was the son of John Lockhart and Mary Ann "Polly" Hill Jennings.
On Oct. 22, 1857, Sparta, Mississippi, Wyatt married Margaret L. Campbell.
Wyatt served in the Confederate Army as a 2nd Lt. in Company C, 24th Mississippi Infantry, CSA. He enlisted on September 13, 1861 at Atlanta, Mississippi, under Capt. J.D. Smith. He was in the Battle of Murfreesboro, Perryville, Chickamauga, Chattanooga and many other skirmishes. Chattanooga was the last battle he fought.

W.W. was captured on Nov. 24, 1863 at Lookout Mountain, Chattanooga, Tennessee. He was first transported to Nashville, Tennessee then to Louisville, Kentucky. On Dec. 1, 1863, he was sent to an officer prison on Johnson Island in Ohio. Wyatt was released at the end of the war and came home to devastation.
In 1876 he and his wife and their 6 children moved to Bazette, TX. Their last child, Curtis was born a year later. Margaret died in 1879 and W.W. married Lucy Wilson in 1881. Together they had 4 children.
Wyatt was a ginner and stayed in the Bazette / Kerens area
till his death in 1924. He is buried at Prairie Point Cemetery in Bazette, Texas.

Kerens, Dec. 20.-W. W. (Uncle Wyatt) Jennings died at the family home near Bazette Sunday afternoon and was buried in the family lot at Prairie Point cemetery Monday afternoon. He leaves a wife and two daughters, Miss Rosa Jennings and Mrs. W. E. Albritton, and one son, Wooster Jennings, all living in this community.

Uncle Wyatt was one of the oldest first settlers of East Navarro county having lived for over forty-eight years in the house where he died. For a number of years he and his brother, Uncle Pony Jennings, ran the only gin in this part of the county.
