John was born on March 25, 1677, in Watertown, Massachusetts. He was the son of Jonathan Sanderson and Abia Bartlett. He married in Woburn, on January 10, 1700/01, Hannah Stratton. The couple had twelve children, all born in Watertown. John was a representative from Watertown in 1711, and he was a housewright, or carpenter by trade. Between 1725 and 1730, they moved to Leicester. John was a selectman in Leicester from 1732 to 1740. John's will was dated January 3, 1750, and he died on the 18th. His will was proved on January 28, 1750. He left bequests to all his children, most were land that he had already given them. Hannah lived until 1756.
