Philip Lenhart was born 31 October, 1834, Fayette, Pennsylvania. The son of Henry and Rebecca Ward Lenhart. Married Matilda Malone 21 October, 1860, Genesee twp. [Coleta] Whiteside county IL. to this union twelve children were born; Almira "Allie", Edward L., Arminda "Minnie", Mary J., Catherine L., John E., James C., Frank, Albert L., Forrest, Alvin O., and Garfield Lenhart. Mrs. Lenhart Died 28 Sep 1905 in Coleta.

PHILIP LENHART, one of the early day settlers of Genesee Township died very suddenly at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Nellie Holbrook in Milledgeville this morning [ 29 May 1912]. Mr. Lenhart rose early this morning and as usual went out onto the back porch where he sat in a porch chair to await the coming of his daughter to notify him that the morning meal was prepared. Mrs. Holbrook went to porch shortly after 6 o'clock to call her father and found him dead. Death it is believed resulted from a stroke of heart trouble and owing to Mr. Lenhart's advanced age it is thought the shock was too heavy for him to resist its effects. Mr. Lenhart came to Genesee township in the early days when the country was new and continued to make his home there until a few years ago when his wife died, after which he has resided at the home of his children at various times. He is survived by the following children: Edwin, John Frank, and Mrs. John Fredrick of Storm Lake, IA. Bert who resides on a farm near Sterling. Otis of Coleta, and Mrs. Allie Holbrook and James of Milledgeville.
