"Charles Goddard, Who Formerly Aided Byrnes With Cartoons, Dies
Charles Goddard, 43, former Lexington man, who formerly wrote words for the Gene Byrnes cartoon, "Reg'lar Fellers," which appears every Saturday in the Pantagraph, home in Los Angeles, Cal., following a two year's illness during which he was bedfast with tuberculosis, according to word received Tuesday by Mrs. Della Humphreys, of Lexington.
Goddard graduated from the Lexington high school with the class of 1901 and married Miss Anna Karbaugh, of Lexington. He engaged in the illustrated a(d)vertising business in Kansas City, St. Louis and finally Los Angeles.
Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons, Billy, 12 years old, and twins, James and Charles, Jr., 7 years old. There are also a number of brothers and sisters scattered thruout the west, and an aunt, Miss Hattie Goddard, of Lexington. Funeral services will be held at Los Angeles."
