Robert E. Cathcart, 55, of New Bedford died January 14, 2009 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness.
Born in Wareham, the son of Betty L. (Parker) Silva of Wareham, Robert Cathcart of Fairhaven, and step-son of the late Frank J. Silva, he lived in the New Bedford all of his life.

Mr. Cathcart was formerly employed as a carpenter.

He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose.

Survivors include his parents; a son, Keith Cathcart of Marion; 3 daughters, Gynna Barros and Robbi Lee Reynolds, both of Wareham and Angela Cathcart of Marion; 2 sisters, Terry Bennett of New Bedford and Debbie Zine of Wareham; 5 brothers, Brian Silva, Tim Silva, Skip Silva, Brad Silva and Matt Silva, all of Marion; his girlfriend, Pauline Rondeau of New Bedford; several nieces and nephews.

His visiting hours will be held on Saturday, January 17th from 1-5 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home For Funerals, 50 County Rd. (Rt. 6) Mattapoisett. His graveside service will be held on Friday, January 23rd at 11 AM in Evergreen Cemetery, Marion.
