WESTMORELAND WINSTON-SALEM Jimmy Ray Westmoreland Jr. April 29, 1938 - July 12, 2013 Jimmy Ray Westmoreland, Sr. passed away Friday, July 12, 2013, at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center. He was born April 29, 1938, in Forsyth County, a son to the late, Herman Westmoreland and Lena Arrington Westmoreland. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving daughter, Leigh Ann and a brother, Matthew Westmoreland. Jimmy retired after a successful career of 33 years at R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company in the distribution facility. On August 10, 1957 he married the love of his life the former Annie Ruth Bodenheimer. He was a devout Christian and member of Becks Baptist Church. He actively served his community as Past President of Pfafftown Jaycees and was instrumental in helping to create the Tiny Packers Football organization. He enjoyed bicycling with his son and grandson and his many biking friends. (Even recently competing and winning 1st place in the Senior Games.) One of his greatest pleasures was sharing time and stories fishing with his son and grandson at the beach. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 55 years, Annie Westmoreland of the home; son, Jimmy, Jr. and wife, Lisa of Greensboro; a grandson, Jimmy Westmoreland, III of Greensboro; two sisters, Carol Jean Smith and husband, Joe and Mary Anne Dull and husband, J.D., numerous cousins, nephews, nieces and loving friends. The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 17th from 6 until 8 PM at Frank Vogler and Sons Funeral Home, Reynolda Road Chapel. A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday, July 18th in the funeral home chapel, with Dr. Karl Ray Minor officiating. Burial will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park.
