Rev. Wright Mose Price, Jr. was born to Wright Mose Price and Mazie (Malone) Price on October 14, 1924 in Cameron, Texas. He married the love of his life, Verna B. Fuller, on March 28, 1945. They were married for 68 years. He was a Baptist preacher and for 43 years pastored churches at Pottsville, Rock House, Flat, Santa Anna and West Shore Baptist, which he founded near Corpus Christi. His last pastorate was at Burkett, where he served over 16 years. He loved spreading God's word and witnessed wherever he went. He was a graduate of Yoe High School in Cameron, attended the University of Texas, and graduated from the Chriswell Bible Institute in Dallas. He was a pilot, having learned to fly as a teenager when he was too young to get a pilot's license. During World War II, at 17 years old, he joined the Naval Air Force and was an instructor for pilots to land on Naval ships in the ocean. His passion for flying lasted his lifetime. He owned, built and rebuilt small planes and always had one or more in his airplane hangar. He was a man of many talents, interests and skills. He was a 32nd degree Mason, and a ham radio enthusiast. He drove an ambulance, worked for the railroad, the highway department and taught at the Gatesville State School. He was an accomplished butcher and worked for Wood and Robinson, as well as A.G. Thompson Grocers in Hamilton. He owned a blacksmith shop in Hamilton. He had a passion and love for traveling with his children and grandchildren. He took them to all 49 states in the contiguous USA in his "Old Blue" van, even driving to Alaska three times. The memories made during those travels will live on and be passed down for many generations to come.
