Mark Herbert Hoyt, 53, of Dorrance, died Friday night January 22, 2010 at his home. Mark was born on September 16, 1956 in Garden City, Kansas the son of Gerald E. and Helen (Brinkmeyer) Hoyt.
He grew up in the Garden City and Holcomb areas and graduated from Holcomb High School in 1974. He met, fell in love and was united in marriage to Rena Kreger on June 21, 1975 in Garden City. From this union they were blessed with 3 children Tony, Stephanie and Jill.
For 20 years he worked as a mechanic at the Cash-n-Carry in Garden City and in 2001 he and the family moved to Dorrance, Kansas. He went to work for the Russell County Highway Department in 2004 until failing health forced him to retire.
He was a longtime member of the Presbyterian Church of Garden City, Kansas. He has also been a member of the Dorrance City Council since 2002, Sons of the Legion in Dorrance and involved in many community activities in Dorrance. He enjoyed tinkering and fixing other people's item and loved hunting, fishing and loved being around animals.
He was preceded in death by his father.

Mark Herbert Hoyt, 53, a former resident of Holcomb and Garden City, died Friday, Jan. 22, 2010, at his home in Dorrance.
He was born Sept. 16, 1956, in Garden City, to Gerald E. and Helen Brinkmeyer Hoyt. He grew up in the Garden City and Holcomb areas and graduated from Holcomb High School in 1974.

On June 21, 1975, he married Rena Kreger in Garden City.

For 20 years, Mr. Hoyt worked as a mechanic at Cash-n-Carry Lumber in Garden City. In 2001, his family moved to Dorrance. He went to work for the Russell County Highway Department in 2004 and worked until failing health forced him to retire. He was a longtime member of The Presbyterian Church of Garden City, a member of the Dorrance City Council since 2002, belonged to the Sons of the Legion in Dorrance and was involved in many community activities in Dorrance. He enjoyed tinkering and fixing other people's items and loved hunting, fishing and being around animals.

In addition to his wife, survivors include his mother, Helen Hoyt Blackman of Garden City; a son, Tony Hoyt of Elkhart; two daughters, Stephanie Hoyt of Kingman, Ariz., and Jill Hoyt of Bunker Hill; two brothers, Mike Hoyt of Garden City, and Pat Hoyt of Rhome, Texas; a sister, Ann McDowell of Garden City; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father.
