Services for Ellen Whaley Farmer, 65, of Roanoke, will be Saturday, March 7, 2009, at 2 p.m. at North Main Congregational Christian Church with the Rev. Billy Watts officiating. Burial will follow in Randolph Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:30 to 8 p.m. on Friday, March 6, 2009. Mrs. Farmer will lie in state one hour before the service at the church.

Mrs. Farmer died Wednesday, March 4, at East Alabama Medical Center, Opelika.

Survivors include her husband, R. L. Farmer of Roanoke; two sons, Keith Farmer of Woodland and Mark Farmer of Roanoke; mother, Pearl Whaley of Roanoke; two sisters, Carol Siggers and Juanita Burdette both of Atlanta; and four grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Mike Breed, Mike Fisher, Tim Jacobs, Wayne Rice, Walter Sudduth and Pete Mitchell. Honorary pallbearer will be Buck Norred.

Mrs. Farmer was born Nov. 21, 1943, daughter of P.C. and Pearl Horn Whaley. She was a member of North Main Congregational Christian Church and had worked for 16 years as city clerk for the City of Roanoke.

Mrs. Farmer was preceded in death by her father.

Flowers will be accepted or donations to the North Main Congregational Christian Church.
