Jeff Woods, 52, of Crossett died Sunday, July 14, 2013 at his residence.

Jeff was born December 10, 1960 to Pete and Nancy Woods in Fremont, California and lived his most of his life in Crossett, Arkansas.

He graduated from Crossett High School 1979.

He worked and dedicated 30 years of his life to Georgia Pacific before his cancer forced him into early retirement.

He was a member of Cloverdale Assembly of God Church, a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Crossett Masonic Lodge.

Jeff married his best friend and love of his life, Lisa Jackson on April 10, 1982.

He was the proud father of Brittany Ellen and Brandon Lee, father-in-law to Whitney, and G-Daddy to his best buddies, his granddaughters, Bryleigh Grace (b-baby) and Brynlee Jay (peanut). He loved walking through the woods or sitting in his deer stand waiting for the 10 point to appear, spending a chilly morning in the duck blind or waiting to catch that next big one. His favorite meals were spent at the Deer club surrounded by his many friends and his cruisin buddy, Gordon Earl Rice.

He had many dreams realized and some not, one he would have especially loved to have done was to play the kazoo alongside his best friend, Ricky Rice and his band. We know Jeff is happily playing the kazoo today. For over 7 years Jeff coached the Crossett Heartbreakers where they traveled far and wide to numerous tournaments, earning many state and regional titles as well as 3 different bids to World Series tournaments - these girls weren't just his team players, they were part of his family. Jeff looked forwarded to his many sunny, adventure vacations with his wife Lisa - their time alone. When you needed a helping hand, words of encouragement, a shoulder to cry on, hunting or fishing partner, a coach (especially those Heartbreakers of Crossett) or just a friend, James Jeffrey Woods was always there. His arms open wide with a smile to warm the heart.

He was the consummate friend to all. (Although he appreciated a little "code black" or Snuff as payment). Even when he could no longer lift his arm or walk/stand alone, he never complained, he just smiled and said "yes ma'am I'm just fine." We lost a true friend, inspiration, father, son and grandfather after a long and hard fought battle against his rare form of cancer. During his final months, Jeff was excited to watch old westerns with his volunteer caretaker and dear friend, Allison. He was surrounded by his family and friends at his home during his final hours. Jeff now has God's arms around him, welcoming him to his eternal home.

Brittany and Brandon would like to thank their mother for all her sleepless nights, her unwavering faith and her constant love and care she gave their father. "We know it was hard but you made his life so much better in the hardest of times. Thank you for being the strength for all of us. We love you and appreciate all that you have given and taught us during this extremely difficult period."

He is preceded in death by his father, Pete Woods and his father-in-law Wallace Wayne Jackson

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Lisa Jackson Woods of Crossett, a daughter, Brittany Ellen Woods of Dallas, a son, Brandon Lee Woods and wife, Whitney of Hamburg, his mother, Nancy Denson Woods of Crossett; a sister, Kathy Rickman and her husband, Ronnie, of Crossett; a brother, Anthony Woods and his wife, Jessica, of Rogers and two granddaughters, Bryleigh Grace and Brynlee Jay Woods.

Funeral services are 10 a.m., Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at the Cloverdale Assembly of God Church with Rev. John Martin and Marty McClain officiating.

Burial will be in the Crossroad Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Marty McClain, Keith Love, John Johnson, Jason Roberts, Trent McCone, Mike Roberts, Ricky Rice & Gordon Rice.
