McKINNEY– Mrs. Esther , 99, known as the mother of the McKinney Fire Department because of banquets she helped serve for them for over 50 years, died Friday afternoon in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Jim Goodner here.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon in the Crouch-Moore Funeral Home. Rev. Edward Dowell, Christian Church minister, conducted the services. Burial was in Pecan Grove Cemetery.

Mrs. Belden was the widow of J. O. Belden, who owned grocery and dry-goods stores here before his death. She was born March 8, 1867 in Melissa and lived all of her life in Collin County. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. David Lindsey.

She was the oldest member of the First Christian Church here, and was active in presenting the Collin County fairs.

Survivors are two sons, Aurel and Jimmy Belden, both of McKinney; three daughters, Mrs. Goodner, Mrs. Tom Hammond of McKinney and Mrs. Harry Steenson of Stamford; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren
