Born in Hollywood on October 29, 1929, Lupino was a child actor and in 1940 appeared with Roddy McDowell in the film Just William, were he was billed as Dicky Lupino. He studied drama in London at RADA and performed in repertory in Britain before returning to America.
The son of actor Wallace Lupino, his uncle was the comedian Lupino Lane (Henry George Lupino) who starred as Bill Snibson in the original 1937 stage version of Me and My Girl. Richard Lupino's cousins included the British variety star Lauri Lupino Lane and the Hollywood actress and director Ida Lupino.
He served in the medical corps with the US Army in Korea and went on to appear extensively in television series such as The Alfred Hitchcock Hour, The 20th Century Fox Hour and The Phil Silvers Show. He acted at the American Shakespeare Festival and his Hollywood films included Rhapsody (1954), Midnight Lace (1960) and Avengers of the Reef (1973). He also wrote several television scripts with Ida Lupino.

Richard Lupino, an actor and member of a distinguished theatrical family, died on Feb. 9 at Roosevelt Hospital in Manhattan. He was 75.
The cause was non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, his wife, Pandora Bronson Lupino, said.
Mr. Lupino appeared on Broadway, in television series like ''The Alfred Hitchcock Hour,'' ''Alfred Hitchcock Presents,'' ''The 20th Century Fox Hour,'' ''The New Phil Silvers Show'' and in Hollywood films, including ''Rhapsody'' (1954), , ''Midnight Lace'' (1960) and ''Avengers of the Reef'' (1973).
He performed in regional theater and in the 1950's acted with the American Shakespeare Festival Theater and Academy at Stratford, Conn. He also performed on the BBC and the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.
He wrote several television scripts with his cousin, the actor and director Ida Lupino.
