Anna Mae Sanders, 79, of Warsaw, Virginia, passed away on Saturday, July 13, 2013. She was born on January 22, 1934 to the late Tyler C. and Grace Carleton Balderson Sanders. She graduated from Warsaw High School and received a teaching degree from Longwood College in Farmville, Va. In her early years, Mrs. Sanders helped her parents run the very successful, Tye's Inn restaurant in Warsaw, Va. In addition to her parents, Anna Mae was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Marshall Lyle "Pete" Sanders. Mr. and Mrs. Sanders were well known in the community, especially for their annual Christmas night celebration. Mrs. Sanders devoted her entire life to teaching business at C.T. Smith High School, Washington & Lee High School, Rappahannock High School, and Rappahannock Community College. She was an active member of Warsaw Baptist Church and Tappahannock Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Sanders is survived by her two children, Marshall Tyler Sanders of Warsaw Va. and Mary Lloyd Sanders of Atlanta, Ga; her niece; her nephew; and the rest of her relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 6:00 –7:30 PM Friday, July 19, 2013 at Welch Funeral Home, Marks Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 20, 2013 at Warsaw Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Reverend Dr. John W. Turner of Tappahannock Presbyterian Church will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Warsaw Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 576 Warsaw, Va., 22572 or the Tappahannock Presbyterian Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 983, Tappahannock, Va., 22560.
