SELINSGROVE — Emma E. Peterson, 96, of Selinsgrove, passed away at 11:15 p.m. Thursday, July 11, 2013, at the Manor at Penn Village.
She was born Aug. 12, 1916, in Winfield, a daughter of the late William A. and Lydia (Hummel) Ritter. She was married to George Irvin Peterson who preceded her in death in 1954.
Emma attended Winfield area schools.
She was a member of Christ Community United Methodist Church and previously belonged to Shreiner's Church in Shamokin Dam and Messiah Lutheran Church in New Berlin where she served as church treasurer for many years.
She was previously employed at Bob's Shirt Factory in Sunbury, Hunts Sewing Factory and Tara Lee Sewing Factory both in New Berlin. She also did sewing for people around the New Berlin area in her spare time.
Emma enjoyed doing circle words and was active in several groups with her church.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, William F. and Gloria Dalius, of Hummels Wharf and Terry E. and Linda Peterson, of Winfield; six grandchildren, Stephanie Young, Kim Snook, Bradley Bowersox, William Dalius Jr., Dee Stahl and Robert Dalius; 10 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents and husband, by two daughters, Lydia R. Dalius and one in infancy; and three brothers, Raymond, Howard and Nestor Ritter.
Friends and family will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Christ Community United Methodist Church where the funeral will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Randall G. Bennett Jr. officiating.
Burial will follow in the Winfield Cemetery.
Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to Christ Community United Methodist Church, 3939 Park and Fisher roads, Selinsgrove, PA 17870.
Arrangements are by the V.L. Seebold Funeral Home, 601 N. High St., Selinsgrove.
