CHILHOWIE, Va. Rachel Leota Brooks, 79, went to be with the Lord Friday, July 12, 2013. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Kenneth E. Brooks; daughters, Teresa Dunford and husband Johnny of Chilhowie, and Debbie Blevins of Rich Valley; grandchildren, Jennifer Sullivan and husband Wesley, Aaron Dunford, Kelly Surber and husband Nathan, and Rachel Blevins; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Sullivan, Alexander Sullivan, Ashley Sullivan, and Skylar Surber; brothers, George Thomas and wife Sharon, and Blaine Thomas and wife Ann; sisters, Hazel Jones, Lettie Gilbert and husband Harold, and Leota Clyburn and husband Bill; sister-in-law, Peggy Brooks; and several nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends Sunday, July 14, 2013, from 6 until 8 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Chilhowie. Funeral services will immediately follow at 8 p.m. with Pastor Bobby Dunn officiating. Private family burial will be Monday, July 15, 2013, at Sulphur Springs Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be, Aaron Dunford, Wesley Sullivan, Bill Jackson, Nathan Surber Jr. and Jamey Puckett.
