Funeral services were held for Mr. Henry Veltkamp, Sr., Tuesday at 1:00 p.m.at the Christian Reformed Church in Rock Valley, with Dr. Herman Kuiper conducting the services. Burial was made in Valley View Cemetery.
Mr. Veltkamp passed away following a stroke Friday morning, November 16th, at his home.
Henry Veltkamp was born August 25, 1874, in Overijsel Province, the Netherlands. He came tot he United States and to Allendal, Michigan, in 1882, where he lived two years and then moved to Dispatch, Kansas, in 1884, where he lived for 17 years.
He was married at Dispatch, Kansas, on October 2, 1901. The family moved tot he vicinity of Rock Valley in 1918, where they farmed until 1948 when the family retired and moved into Rock Valley.
Mr. and Mrs. Veltkamp celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on October 2, 1951.
Surviving are his widow and nine children: Albert, Sam, Henry, Jr., Hattie, Coba (Mrs. Vander Bok) and Martha (Mrs. James Verburg) of Rock Valley, Herman of Pipestone, Minnesota and Martin of New Jersey. Eighteen grandchildren and one great grandchild also survive.
Pall bearers were S. Balkema, Wm. Vugteveen, Clarence Kempema, Herman Van Galen, John Dirksen and Jake Terpstra.
