Allen J. Jarreau Sr. retired from the Pointe Coupee Police Jury as a heavy equipment operator and was an avid deer hunter. He died at 7:10 a.m. Friday, July 1, 2011, at Lakeview Manor Nursing Home in New Roads. He was 86, a resident of New Roads and a native of Oscar.

Visiting at St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Roads, Mass of Christian Burial, celebrated by Monsignor Robert Berggreen. Interment in False River Memorial Park.

He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Lester and Nina Jarreau, of New Roads; a brother, Harry Jarreau, of New Roads; grandchildren, Kurt Jarreau and wife Valerie, and Brad Jarreau and wife Nadia; great-grandchildren, Noah and Brady Jarreau, Kristin Sonnier and Hayden Jarreau; and great-great-grandchildren, Zane and Madden Sonnier.

He was preceded in death by his wives, Mary St. Romain Jarreau, Nora Jarreau and Helene Bonnette Jarreau; sons, Allen J. Jarreau Jr. and Gary James Jarreau; parents, Ramah and Clothilde Jarreau; brothers, Dewey, Murphy and Eddie Jarreau; and a sister, Aricie Fabre.

Special thanks to Dr. James Christopher and his nurses, Shari and Andrea, the staff of Lakeview Manor Nursing Home and Pointe Coupee General Hospital, great-nephew, Charles Jarreau, nephew, Johnny Jarreau and close friend, Gerig David.
