Funeral services for Joseph Berdick, 79, of 515 Elsie St. will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday from the Weber funeral home with the Rev. John P. Emig, pastor of the First Presbyterian church, officiating. Mr. Berdick, a retired orderly at the Madison County Sanatorium, died at 10:05 p.m. Sunday at St. Joseph Hospital, Highland.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 10 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Valley View cemetery.
Mr. Berdick, retired six years, was a member of the Edwardsville Central Trades & Labor Council AFL-CIO and the Hotel & Restaurant Employees Union, Local 259.
He was born Feb. 2, 1882 near Glen Carbon, the son of the late John and Anna Primas Berdick. He was married June 30, 1914 to Mrs. Johanna Barraclough, who died Jan. 22, 1951.
Surviving are three step-daughters, Mrs. R.C. (Imo) Shaub of Haddonfield, N.J., Mrs. A.I. (Lenore) Means, Oak Park, and Mrs. Gladys B. Bartholomew, Edwardsville; a sister, Miss Barbara Berdick, Glen Carbon; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
