Richard Graham of Fortuna Section Died At Good Old Age of 87
Richard Graham, 87 years old, died Wednesday morning at his home on Tompkins Hill west of Fortuna. Graham who was born October 19, 1849 in St. John's, New Brunswick, came to Humboldt county in 1872, and while working as chain tender for the Pacific Lumber company hauled the first log into the mill at Scotia. In 1894 Graham entered the ranching business and moved to his home on Tompkins Hill, where he has lived for 42 years. Graham is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Vera M. Schnoor of Beatrice; Mrs. Rebecca Jensen of Loleta and Miss Thelma Graham of Tompkins Hill. One son, William A. Graham also lives at home, and a step-son, Venton J. Punnell lives in the east. Funeral services were conducted Friday afternoon at the Hunter-Wise chapel in Fortuna with burial in the Myrtle Grove cemetery in Eureka. Rev. K. J. Kirschstein officiated at the services.
