Robert Moffatt Crawford was the son of Michael & Catherine Tubman Crawford, who came to America from Ireland, and settled in Mineral Point, Wisconsin. Robert along with his brother George, were publishers for the Iowa County Democrat "The Democrat" newspaper. The firm was then called Crawford & Brother. He married Martha Jane Goldsworthy on February 10, 1880 in Mineral Point, Wisconsin. Having their first residence next door to her parents, Abraham and Mary Goldsworthy. He was a member of the County Board of Supervisors and in 1890 was elected to the assembly. Martha and Robert had two sons, Robert and Willard. Robert passed away at the age of 66, Martha live 21 years as a widow after. Robert was laid to rest in the "Mineral Point Cemetery", Graceland Cemetery.
