Son of Thomas and Lucile Casey. In 1933 his mother remarried George E. Ross, of Houston, TX who adopted Tom. He served in both the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Corps during WW II. He attended the University of Houston and South Texas College of Law. He graduated from Sam Houston State University with Bachelor and Master Degrees in social rehabilitation. Tom was a Licensed Master Social Worker/Advance Clinical Practitioner and Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor. Mr. Ross worked as an Insurance Claims Investigator/Adjuster for several years. In 1963 he began work as an Alcohol and Drug Counselor for the Texas Commission on Alcoholism at the northern units of the TDC. At his death, he was the oldest practicing alcohol and drug counselor in the State of Texas. In 1967 he joined the Texas Department of Welfare retiring in 1986 as Program Director. Mr. Ross was active in 12 Step Programs since 1955 and at his death he had 50 years of sobriety. In 1982 he joined his longtime friend, Dr. Roger Cadwalder of the Cadwalder Behavioral Center as a Counselor in their CD Treatment program at West Oaks Hospital. He continued to work for CBC up until his death, as an LMSW-ACP, LCDC working with troubled children, adults with problems in living, and geriatric men and women dealing with advanced years. Mr. Ross loved his work, his clients/patients, his family, his friends and the Lord. He will be missed. He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy E. Ross; son, Michael George and daughter-in-law, Susan; son, Kevin Casey Ross; step-sons, Charles W. and David A Toliver; grandchildren, Megan Taylor Ross and Clayton James Ross.
