Art was born in Dothan, Alabama, seven years after his brother Winfield Baird. He attended Dothan High School, The Baylor School, and Vanderbilt University where he received a bachelor's degree in economics. Art spent time right after college in the Army where he was stationed in Germany serving with the 1st T.A.B., 26th Artillery from 1962-64. Upon returning home, he and Cornelia moved to Dothan, where he worked at First National Bank of Dothan and WTVY. He finished his career working side by side with his two sons, John and David, at Morgan Stanley. Art was an avid golfer who captained the Vanderbilt Golf Team and still holds a course record at Dothan Country Club. He was an active member of the Downtown Kiwanis Club, Birmingham Country Club and Monteagle Sunday School Assembly. He loved the Lord above all and was deeply involved in and served in a number of areas at Independent Presbyterian Church. Art and Cornelia ministered to and deeply affected the lives of a number of people by leading marriage classes in Sunday School and by hosting grace groups in their home. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur E. Malone, Sr. and Sadye Gross Baird Malone, both of Dothan, AL. Art is survived by his loving spouse of exactly 50 years, Cornelia Barnes Malone, his three children, John (Tanja), Katherine (Andy), and David (Mary Anna).
