SMITHFIELD, VA - Kayla Wrenn Williams, 20, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, July 2, 2013 due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Born in Portsmouth, VA, Kayla was the daughter of Carlton D. "Scooter" and Jennifer "Jeni" Pope Williams and a loving sister to Amory Lorelei Williams and brother Travis Lee Williams. She had lived in Smithfield all her life and graduated from Smithfield High School in 2011. Kayla loved life and lived it to the fullest in her short years.

She had a giving spirit and was one of her family's rays of sunshine. She had a heart for animals and often volunteered herself to animal rescue and shelter programs. Kayla had worked at Roger's Animal Hospital in Smithfield for two years.

At the time of her departure, she was working as a veterinary assistant at Banfield Animal Hospital, Newport News, and was studying veterinary technology with Ashworth College. In her passing, Kayla was an organ and tissue donor. She has already given several people the gift of life.

The family is asking in lieu of flowers that donations be given to the IOW humane society P.O. box 273 Smithfield, VA 2343. Family and friends will gather to celebrate Kayla's life at 6 pm, Friday July 12, 2013 in Colonial Funeral Home, 1515 S. Church Street, Smithfield VA 23430. Arrangements are in the care of Colonial Funeral Home, Smithfield, VA.
