--Son of Artemus "Art" Eugene Grayson and wife Mattie Ila Hudson. The family lived in Marion County, TN in 1910, in Sequatchie County, TN in 1920.
--Occupation: He was a Fireman in Signal Mountain, TN in 1930. By 1940, he had relocated to Charlotte, NC and was a Mechanic with Horton Motor Lines.
--Alton married Wanna Tompkins. They had 6 children (names listed in wife's memorial).
