Mrs. Carrie Meadows, 86, of Princewick, was dead on arrival at a Beckley hospital Saturday at 6:50 a.m. after a long illness.
Born March 10, 1891, at Pettry, she was a daughter of the late Hayden and Arista Conner.
Surviving are a son, Donald, Coal City; a daughter, Mrs. Virginia Calvert, Princewick; a sister, Mrs. Lola Basham, Princeton; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Her husband, Oakey Meadows, died in 1948.
Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. in the Coal City Community Church with the Rev. Beecher Garrettson in charge. Burial will be in Meadows Cemetery at Mitchell's Ridge.
Pallbearers will be F. G. Calvert, Clyde Adams, Grant Richmond, Frazier Gills, David Nelson and Jimmy Dale Bowles.
Friends may call today from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Williams-Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Sophia. The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to the service.
