Edith will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by one son, William Carl Dixon and wife Robin, of Fulton; one daughter, Carolyn Jo Hazlett of Fayette; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren; a special friend, James Carter of Portland; and numerous step grandchildren, step great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Edith was preceded in death by one daughter, Elizabeth Ann Dixon; two brothers, Allison Boyd Wallis and Alfred Carlyle Wallis; two sisters, Anna Gyneva Boyles and Lora Dale Wallis; and one sister-in-law, Pat Wallis.
Edith grew up in Cadiz, KY and Granite City, IL. She was active in the PTA, Band, and the Boys and Girls Scouts. Edith was a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church. She also owned the Readsville Store for over 20 years and enjoyed meeting and socializing with the customers. Edith was a member of the Kingdom of Callaway Historical Society. She also enjoyed her plants and gardening, taking pictures, and doing genealogy.
Funeral services will be at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton with Mary Maddox officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until time of service on Tuesday also at Maupin Funeral Home. Interment will be held at Bethel Cemetery in Readsville, MO.
