Martha Davis, wife of Oren F. Durham of the town of Rutland, died about 4 p.m. Monday in a chair at the family home. She had been ill for about a week with indigestion, but was apparently much improved Monday. Earlier in the day she had talked over the telephone with a daughter, who resides in this city, and had told her that she was feeling better. Her husband had been with her during the day. He left her sitting in a chair while he went out to the barn and milked several cows. Returning he went immediately to where she was sitting and found her dead. Coroner Herbert L. Smith of this city was called and after examining the body pronounced death due to valvular disease of the heart.

Mrs. Durham was 68 years of age and was a native of Adams. She was the daughter of the late Amos and Rachel Davis. For a time she lived at Honeyville, marrying Mr. Durham in that place. In 1873 the family moved to the town of Rutland, and had lived there since that time.

There survive three children, Mrs. Nellie E. Kirch, of this city, Fred Lewis Durham of Watertown and Oren Fred Durham, of the town of Rutland.

The funeral will be held from her late home Friday morning at 11. Burial will be in Brookside.
