Erin Byrd Bartholomew, my best friend and sweetheart, left this life Friday, June 15, 2007 at age 78. His parents, V. Lloyd and Florence Anne Domgaard Bartholomew, welcomed their new little black-haired baby boy November 8, 1928 at the family home in Fayette, Utah. He spent his youth in Fayette and graduated from Gunnison Valley High School as valedictorian of his class. Byrd was an artist and graduated from Brigham Young University with a BA degree in Fine Art and minors in French and Mathematics. He loved the mountains and desert and with his camera and paintbrush captured their beauty on film and canvas. His many interests included 'birding', desert botany, geology, archeology, and geography. Byrd was on the management team at Geneva Steel retiring after 35 years of service. He married his high school sweetheart, Jewel Alexander, September 16, 1948 in the Manti, Utah Temple. They have made their home in Orem, Utah where they raised five sons, David Byrd (Evelyn), Paul Alexander (Linda), Michael John (Kim), Stephen Mark (Rhonda), and Christopher James (Kay). Byrd was an active member of the LDS Church, holding the office of high priest. He is survived by his wife; sons; sister, Fae B. Lewis; brothers, Mac R. Bartholomew, Wesley E. Bartholomew, and Milton L. Bartholomew. Preceding him in death were his parents; a grandson, Matthew Bartholomew; and two brothers, Heber D. Bartholomew and Varian Bartholomew. The family wishes to thank the following for the kind and competent care they have given Byrd over the past six years, Dr. Gerald Stephanz, the staff at Davita Dialysis, Orchard Park Care Center, Todd Lowder and especially members of the Timpanogos Park 6th Ward. Funeral services will be held Wed-nesday, June 20, 2007 at 11 a.m. in the Timpanogos Park 6th Ward chapel, 955 North 300 East, Orem, Utah. Friends may visit at Berg Mortuary, 185 East Center Street, Provo, Utah Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. or at the church, Wednesday morning from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to the services. Interment, Orem City Cemetery.
