Mrs. Grotte was born May 21, 1913, at Bemidji to Edwin and Mamie Achenbach. She grew up and attended school here and was married Nov. 17, 1929, to Harold Grotte at Cass Lake. They operated the Grotte Berry Farm in Beltrami County for 45 years and moved to Utah in 1982. She did sewing and flower arranging and was a member of Eastern Star organizations, Althea Shrine and the Church of Christ.
She is survived by two daughters, Betty (Harding) Hackney of Mountain Green, Utah, and Elaine Grotte of Alexandria; a granddaughter; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Francine (Donald) Holmes of Bemidji; a brother, Dr. Herbert (Delores) Achenback of Thief River Falls; and a niece.
She was preceded in death by her husband; three sisters, Mamie, Leona and Verona; and three brothers, John, Eddie and Raymond.
