Virginia L. Hutton Spears went home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 8, 2013. She was born in Manila, AR on November 11, 1922. After moving to Memphis with family, she met and married Marvin Ray Spears, a career Navy WWII veteran. Together they started moving companies one which grew to be Mayflower and later purchased B&B Auto Parts. Virginia and Marvin with several friends formed in their living room the East Shelby Republican Club. Marvin was the first President of East Shelby. Virginia was the volunteer chairperson of several local, state and national campaigns. The East Shelby Republican Club helped to usher in the Republican Party and helped shape local politics still to this day. She was an active member at Bellevue Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Ray Spears, her parents, Edgar L. Hutton, Sr. and Olga Hutton, and a brother, Orin Ray Hutton. She is survived by her children, Marvin Ray Spears II, and M. Britt Spears (Jackie); grandchildren, Shannon Spears Reighn and Jared B. Spears, one great-grandson, a brother, E.L. Hutton, Jr., and sister, Kelly Burnett. Celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, July 11 at Family Funeral Care 4925 Summer Ave Visitation, 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Services immediately following.
