Ray Lincoln Durham, 84 of 104 Wicker Lane, Bluefield, Va., passed away Thursday, July 11, 2013 at Tazewell Community Hospital. He was born in Baileyswitch and was the son of the late John Everett and Jenny Belle Tiller Durham.

Mr. Durham was a salesman for Interocean Insurance and for over 15 years was the owner/operator of R and K Fishing Supplies, Bluefield, Va. He served his country in the US Army during the Korean War and was a lifelong member of the VFW Memorial Post 9696. A member of the Wright's Valley United Methodist Church, he served as Sunday School Superintendent for over 50 years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Thelma Eldridge, Letha Englehart, Hazel, Gladine, Ida May, Everett, Ernest, Jack, James, and Frank Durham.

Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife of 64 years, Georgia Neel Durham; his loving son, David Keith Durham; a sister, Ruby Carter and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

The service to celebrate Mr. Durham's life will be held today (Saturday), July 13, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Dudley Memorial Chapel, Bluefield, Va., with the Rev. Jim Horn and the Rev. Sue Walker officiating. Burial will follow in the Grandview Memory Gardens with members of the VFW Memorial Post 9696 and the Pocahontas American Legion Post 14 conducting military graveside rites. Pallbearers will be Eddie Lantern, Tommy Melvin, Ronnie Harless, Gary Lee Carter, Byron Durham, Wesley Garris and Tim Durham. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Asbury, Richard Stowers, Sonny Miller, Charles Baker, David Inscore and Ellis Johnson.

Friends may visit with the family today (Saturday), July 13, 2013 from noon ‘til hour of the service at Dudley Memorial Mortuary.
