MRS. LAURA STILSON FORD
Passes Away at Her Home Early Sun-
day Morning

Mrs. Laura Stilson Ford, widow of the late Dever S. Ford, passed away at 1 o'clock Sunday morning at her home, 21 Reynolds-ave., after an illness of several weeks which seemed to be due merely to the infirmities of age.

The deceased was born on Nov. 17, 1840, at Franklin, Delaware county, and was there married to Mr. Ford on Oct. 8, 1863. For a little time they resided at Otselic and then went to Algona, Ia., which was their home until 1901 when they came to Cortland. Mr. Ford died on Sept. 6, 1921.

To few couples is it given to spend nearly fifty-eight years together, and their married life was a particularly happy one. Their golden wedding which was observed by a large reception at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur F. Stilson in 1913 was a great joy to them, as indeed it was to the many friends who there offered them congratulations and good wishes. Mrs. Ford was possessed of a very happy disposition. She always saw the bright things in life and was ever thoughtful and considerate of others, and her friends included everyone who was privileged to know her.

Mrs. Ford never had any children, but no children could ever have been more watchful and attentive for the needs and happiness of parents then her two nephews, Arthur and Edward Stilson and their wives. Scarcely a day ever passed since Mr. and Mrs. Ford came to Cortland to reside but that at least one member of the two families ran in to see if anything were needed or if anything could be done that would add to the happiness or comfort of their beloved aunt. And Mrs. Ford was always appreciative in the highest degree of everything that was done for her.

Mrs. Ford is survived by one brother, Rev. Arthur C. Stilson of Altadena, Calif., also by her brother-in-law, Byron Pierce of Coopers Plains, N.Y.

Both Mr. and Mrs. Ford were member of the First Presbyterian church of this city.

The funeral will be held at the house, 21 Reynolds-ave., on Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, with burial in the Cortland Rural cemetery.
