Mr. Samuel Mac Sims, 73, of McCool passed away on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 from complications caused by his battle with cancer. Services will be held at 2 pm Saturday, July 13 at Culpepper Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at McCool Cemetery. Visitation is from 5 – 8 pm Friday and after 12 noon Saturday. Rev. Tony Black will officiate.
Mr. Sims was a retired Truck Driver known as "Piccolo Player." When he was feeling well he attended Berea Baptist Church.
He leaves behind a loving wife, Gladys Jean Rowell Sims; four children, Teri Jean Sims Dempsey, Kim (Franky) Burchfield, Johnny Mac (Kim) Sims and Stacey (Misty) Sims; 14 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren with one on the way; brothers, David (Sheryl) Sims and Roy (Peggy) Sims; sisters, Barbara (Charlie) Lawrence and Mary (Barry) Spears; multitude of nieces and nephews; special niece, Sissy Guy.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Hildon and Ruth White Sims; son, Tony Mac Sims;brother, Robert Sims.
Pallbearers are Stacey Sims, Hunter Dempsey, Matthew Sims, Jeremy Blaine, Aaron Blaine and Paul Brock. Honorary Pallbearers are Tommy Jackson, Mickey Landrum, Chris Landrum, Larry Jo Moyer, Ryan Moyer, Craig Lawrence, Chuck Lawrence, Brian Spears,Chad Spears, Michael Sims, Mark Sims, Austin Burchfield and several special friends.
