Avid Traveler Had Visited All 50 States And Many Foreign Countries

Jo Evelyn Cooper, 74, of Chattanooga, died on Thursday, July 11, 2013.

She was born May 17, 1939 in McMinn County, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her father Lake Rowland and her daughter Tammy York. She was a member of First Centenary United Methodist Church and was active in the Missionary Ridge Garden Club, Shepherd Hills Community Club, Strength for the Journey, and the Women's Circle, First Centenary United Methodist Church.

One of her greatest joys after retirement was traveling, she and her husband toured all 50 states, every Canadian province, several countries in Europe, Central America, South America, Africa, Asia and Australia. They had a trip to Ireland scheduled for July 22, 2013.

Survivors include her husband, Billy C. Cooper of Chattanooga, sisters, Sammie Jean Albritton of Delano, Tennessee and Carolyn (Arlie) Givens of Chattanooga, brother, Larry (Evelyn) Rowland of Riceville, Tennessee, step-daughter, Deborah (Stephen) Lee of Atlanta, granddaughter, Elizabeth Lee of Atlanta, several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, July 14, at the First Centenary United Methodist Church.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, at the church with Dr. Steve Byrum and Dr. Doug Fairbanks officiating.

Interment will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 15, at Jones Chapel United Methodist Church in Riceville, Tn.

Memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 7625 Hamilton Park Drive, Suite 8, Chattanooga, TN 37421, Parkinsons Research Foundation, P.O. Box 96318, Washington, DC 20090 or the charity of your choice.
