He was born January 8, 1941, in Graytown, Ohio, to Carl and Dorothy (Kaeming) Sampson. On February 22, 1986, in Rocky Ridge, Ohio, he married Ruby S. Savage, who survives. Ron graduated from Harris-Elmore High School and for 26 years worked in maintenance at Martin-Marietta Corp. in Woodville until his retirement in 2003. Ron enjoyed being outdoors, especially working in his garden and and his yard.
In addition to his wife, Ruby, Ron is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Sampson and grandson, Joshua Sampson both of Elmore, his step children, Pamela (Herbert) Gross of Graytown, Terri (Eric) Kruse and Troy (Lisa Wicker) Turner, both of Woodville, and his grandson, Nicholas Camp, whom he raised. He is also survived by his brother, Wayne (Joyce) Sampson of Arizona and sister, Carol (David) Stewart of North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Karen L. (Decker) Sampson, and an infant sister.
A graveside service will be held 11:30 a.m., Monday, July 15, 2013, at Westwood Cemetery, Woodville. Memorials for Ron may be directed to the American Diabetes Association., 300 Galleria Officentre Suite 111, Southfield, MI 48024. The Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory of Genoa has assisted the family with arrangements.
