Maxine D. Burrows of Osawatomie, Kansas, formerly of rural Lane, Kansas, died Thursday, July 11, 2013 at Vintage Park Assisted Living in Osawatomie after a life well lived of 95 years.

Maxine was born February 17, 1918 in Augusta, Kansas. She was the younger of two daughters born to Milton S. and Elizabeth M. (Wilson) Deibert. She grew up in Augusta and graduated from Augusta High School with the Class of 1935.

Maxine was united in marriage to Dellmar J. Burrows on July 20, 1936 in Little River, Kansas. From 1936 until 1943, Maxine followed her husband with his line of work in the oil fields and heavy construction. One particular year they moved thirteen times. They became the parents of two children, one son James Milton and one daughter Jane Maureen. In August of 1943, they moved to Paola where they made their home until moving to rural Lane, Kansas in 1964.

As a homemaker, Maxine was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren. Her grandchildren loved going to her house and eating her fresh baked cookies made just for them. She never passed a Walmart or a Dairy Queen without stopping. Manicures were one of the few ways she would pamper herself.

Maxine was a devout Christian who enjoyed reading her bible. Gospel hymns were her favorite music. Even though she would never admit it, she had a beautiful singing voice. She was a member of the Lane United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dellmar who died May 27, 2006, her sister Jewell Hagaman who died March 14, 1991, and one great grandson Joshua Shane who died June 12, 2012.

She is survived by her son Jim Burrows and his wife Carol of Overland Park, Kansas; her daughter Jane Stout and her husband Bob of rural Lane, Kansas; six grandchildren Shane Stout (Debby), Bruce Stout (Toni), Elizabeth Rhine (David), Holly Burrows, Mindy Shane, Kerry Adam (Matt), 13 great grandchildren Steffany Madden (Josh), Kaylee Hurt (Trevor), Kelsey Stout, Kaitlyn Stout, Taylor Stout, Caleb Rhine, Adkin Vobach, Hana Nassiripour, Derik Shane, Jacob Shane, Tyler Shane, Matthew Adam, and Madeleine Adam; three great- great grandchildren Jayden and Sayge Madden and Eleanor Shane; other relatives and friends.

Memorial contributions can be made to Lane United Methodist Church and can be sent in care of Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, 605 O'Neal Ave., P. O. Box 280, Osawatomie, KS, 66064.
