Darrell M. (Slim) Watson, 92, passed away Friday, July 12, 2013. He was born August 11, 1920, the son of Orson Whitney and Evalina Potter Watson in Plymouth, Utah.

As a young boy, he moved to Robin, Idaho, attending Robin Elementary, graduating later from Arimo High School where he participated in many sports excelling in basketball.

He married Joyce Henderson, January 31, 1942. They were later sealed in the Logan L.D.S. Temple. She preceded him in death in June 1995. Joyce was a loving, caring, wife to Darrell, they had 53 years together.

Darrell served in the United States Marine Corps during WWII, where he was stationed in Hawaii. He was given an honorable discharge. He was proud to serve his country. He was in the bishopric in Arimo, Idaho and also Pocatello.

Darrell farmed, worked at Paul Roberts Supply, then moved to Pocatello where he retied from Bucyrus-Erie. He has spent the last 4 years with his son Larry and wife, Kate.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, wood working, music, dancing, cutter racing and riding horses with his brother Orson.

Darrell is survived by two sons and one daughter, Larry (Kate) Watson, Chubbuck, Idaho; Kimbell (Dani) Watson, Ogden, Utah; Rena (Brent) Garrison, South Jordan, Utah; 6 grandchildren, Kristy (Rick) Mowrey, Pocatello; Cindy (Garth) Johnson, Chubbuck; Eric Garrison, Las Vegas, Nevada; Dane, Sydney, Libby Watson, Ogden, Utah; 8 great grandchildren.; three brothers, Sterlin (Janice) Watson, Pocatello; Tracey (Ellen) Watson, Pocatello; Clyde Watson, Meridian, Idaho; three sisters-in-laws, Marie Wheatley, Onetta Howell, Marilyn Henderson.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Joyce, 3 brothers, 2 sisters, and 1 grandson.

Darrell enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, eating horehound candy, watching the jazz and Lawrence Welk.

Thank you to Evelyn for her friendship to Darrell for those 15 years. A special thanks to Elegant Living, Caring Hearts and Encompass Hospice for your very kind care these last few months.

Funeral services will be held Monday, July 15, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the L.D.S. Tyhee State Center. The family will receive friends Sunday evening July 14, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel, 510 N. 12th Ave. and on Monday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Restlawn Memorial Gardens.

Funeral services are under the care of Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel.
