FORMER MORAVIA MAN IS KILLED
Accident at State Fair Results Fatality For Former Moravia Resident

A fall into a pit lined with concrete at the State Fair on the opening day cost the life of Charles O. Roundy, a native of Moravia and a man well known in this community. Mr. Roundy for some time has been operating a farm near Jordan and Monday, with one of his employees, went to the State Fair. They were inspecting a model silo at the dairy building about 11 o'clock, when Mr. Roundy slipped backward and fell into a four foot pit. His skull was fractured and a deep gash was cut above the left ear. The injured man was taken to the emergency hospital on the grounds and later removed to St. Joseph's Hospital, where his death occurred at 2:40 o'clock. Mr. Roundy was born in this village September 26, 1872, while his father, Charles O. Roundy, was principal of the local school. For several years he operated a farm near Camillus, but for some time past he has lived near Jordan. The deceased is survived by his widow, Mira Sherman Roundy; a daughter, Miss Mabel Roundy, and one sister, Mrs. James K. Chandler, of this village. Funeral services were held at the late home Thursday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock. Rev. J. T. Bradburn officiated and the remains were brought here for burial in Indian Mound Cemetery.
